With the launch of the new website developed
by Cyberteks Design, the London Knights
are continuing to provide a cutting-edge,
accessible website loaded with rich media
content, which make it one of the most
technologically advanced sites in the
hockey world. The previous version of
the website (also developed by Cyberteks
Design) was a finalist in the 2002 International
New Media Festival Awards Contest, and
this new site builds on all the successes
of the first.
The home page of the website now features a videos tab which links to the video archive. All video highlights are edited and streamed in high resolution Windows Media format by Cyberteks Design. LondonKnights.com was among the first OHL team sites to feature video highlights. The news ticker on the home page also links to the news archive which details every London Knights news item since 2002.
All of the content updates (rosters, standings, statistics, news, photos, videos etc.) on the London Knights website are performed by Cyberteks employees. Final scores and statistics are updated on the site within minutes of the final buzzer. Fans can also stay up to date with the latest scores by signing up for wireless updates. At the end of each game our wireless update system text messages the final score and goal scorers are text message to thousands of fans. Knights fans can also choose to sign up for the Knights e-newsletter and have the latest scores, news and events sent directly to their inbox.
The merchandise page features the unique
London Knights Jersey Customizer. This
program allows users to see what their
custom jersey will look like as they customize
it, and then add it straight to their
shopping cart. What makes this customizer
truly unique is that when users order
a custom jersey, both the user and London
Knights receive an email with a picture
of the jersey. This extra functionality
allows the London Knights staff to double
check for accuracy and has never been
done before by any other company.
The database driven Flash event calendar
gives users quick access to all of the
London Knights game times, scores and
event information. The calendar does not
just provide information on a monthly
basis, using the next and previous month
buttons users can look ahead to future
events, and even check scores from previous
years. All of the event information is added to the calendar via a content management system.
The interactive seating map on the tickets
page gives users a complete interactive
layout of the John Labatt Centre. The
map also provides photographs taken from
the seating sections, giving users a snapshot
of the view they would have of the game.
The interactive zone gives London Knights
fans plenty of ways to interact with their
team. There is a full suite of Flash hockey
games, all of which give users a shot
at a monthly prize. There
are also the Flash animated e-cards, which
feature unique 3D animations of the Knights
mascot, allow users to send seasons greetings
to anyone with an e-mail address. No other
OHL team has these advanced features and
applications.
The Kids Club Colouring Contest is open
to children under 12 years of age. The
contest showcases the London Knights mascot
(also designed by Cyberteks Design.) Kids
colour in a picture of the mascot and
his castle using a Flash based paint system,
which uses a 21-colour palette, however,
the colour mixer gives users millions
of colour possibilities. There is a Photoshop-style
eyedropper tool, which allows the child
to reuse colours they have already mixed.
Once the parent has filled out the contact
form, the child's coloured picture is
e-mailed to the London Knights for judging,
and prizes are awarded every month to
the child who submitted the best entry.
The child also receives an e-mail containing
their coloured picture so they can go
back and looks at their creation any time.
No other company has developed a product
like this.
London Knights fans can also explore the rich history of the hockey club by visiting Knights History.
