Dale Hunter - Owner/President/Head Coach

London Knights Co-Owner Dale Hunter enters his 7th season as Owner of the London Knights Hockey Club. Dale took over as Head Coach of the London Knights in November 2001 and will begin his 5th full season as the Head Coach. Last season he led the London Knights to their 1st Ever Memorial Cup Championship and Ontario Hockey League Championship in the 40 year history of the Franchise. The 2004-2005 London Knights finished the season with a record of 79-9-2-0 in 90 games including a 59-7-2-0 Regular Season, 16-2-0-0 playoff record and 4-0-0-0 record in the Memorial Cup. He was named the 2003-2004 Canadian Hockey League Coach of the Year in May 2004 at the CHL Awards in Kelowna, BC. Dale led the 2003-2004 Knights to a season of 53-11-2-2 and finished first overall in the OHL. In his 1st full season as the Head Coach of the Knights he lead the team to a 31-27-7-3 record in the 2002-2003 season. Dale has spent the last 25+ years of his life involved actively in professional hockey. He was a 5th Round Pick of the Kitchener Rangers in the 1977 Ontario Hockey League Draft and spent 3 seasons in the OHL with the Rangers and Sudbury Wolves. In 1979 he was selected in the 2nd Round of the 1979 National Hockey League Draft by the Quebec Nordiques. He made the jump to National Hockey League directly from the Sudbury Wolves after his 3rd season as a 19 year old rookie in the NHL in 1980-81. Dale spent the next 7 years as a member of the Nordiques recording an NHL career high 79 points during the 1983-84 season. He was traded to the Washington Capitals in the summer of 1987. Following the trade to Washington, he spent the next 12 years with the Capitals and became that franchises most popular and well known players. Following his very successful NHL career that saw him score 1,020 points in 1,407 National Hockey League games the Washington Capitals retired his # 32 at the MCI Center. Upon retiring from the Capitals, Dale was immediately hired by the Capitals as their Director of Player Development and he spent one season travelling North America working with young Washington Capitals Prospects showing them the mental and physical attributes of becoming an NHL player. Dale along with his brother Mark purchased the London Knights Hockey Club from the Tarry Family in May 2000. In his role as Owner/President and Head Coach Dale has spent the last 4 seasons overseeing the entire London Knights Operation and works daily with all London Knights players and staff. Dale enjoys horse racing, golf and farming during the off-season.
